Fodor's Flashmaps Boston: The Ultimate Map Guide (Flashmaps Boston)
Published in Paperback by Fodors Travel Pubns (12 June, 2001)
Authors: Robert Blake and Fodor
Average review score:

Helps you find everything
A nice compilation of maps that help you find everything and everywhere in Boston! I used it for my first ever trip to Boston and it was comforting to know it was always within easy reach. There are maps to help you find everything from neighborhoods to tourist attractions, from restaurants to colleges, from shopping to entertainment spots. Of course, the maps that I found most helpful of all were those for the Metro system and public transportation!

Highly recommended if you'll be doing a lot of traveling around Boston on your own!

Great book to Philly!
Fodor's Philadelphia is a great travel book to the "City of Brotherly Love". Everything from short hops around the city to great parts on restaurants and hotels, this guide has it all. The overview of Philly is also very well done. As a guide book, this is one of the best, if not the best, to Philadelphia and the surrounding area.

Fodor's Pocket Nantucket (Fodor's Pocket Nantucket)

Authors: Fodor'S, Melisse Gelula, and Fodor

The only guide you need...
After looking and buying a number of bulky guides,(many which focused on Cape Cod or Martha's Vinyard) I finally found the only concise, detailed and rich in description guide to Nantucket out there. A bonus is that its tiny enough to fit in your purse or pocket as you walk or bike around the island. A++

Fodors 97 New York City on the Loose (On the Loose)
Published in Paperback by Fodors Travel Pubns (November, 1996)
Authors: David Low, Fodors, and University Of California
Average review score:

best travel book I have ever read
This book was funny, informative, and hip. It had information that was in none of the other travel books, and it is not boring like the Lonely Planet Guides. It was also organized in a great easy to read style. It lists places to eat for under five dollars which is great, too. A necessary book for the budget traveller.

Nature's Bounty
Tom Seymour, acclaimed as a naturalist from the State of Maine, has written a fascinating survey of nature's bounty. This book is highly recommended to readers with an interest in ecology and the world of nature. The author supplies much hard to find information concerning nature's many hidden treasures: edible plants, medicinal plants, and the like. The book features superb color plates, cross-referencing, and a writing style that says "keep reading...."

Forest Trees of the Northeast
Published in Paperback by Cornell Univ Cornell Cooperative (August, 1996)
Authors: James P Lassoie, Valerie a Luzadis, Deborah W Grover, and Karen English-Loeb
Average review score:

Useful, and fun to read
This 277-page book describes 27 trees that are commonly found in the northeast. Each description is accompanied by an outline of the typical shape of the mature tree, illustrations of various tree parts, and a map showing the range of the species within the United States. Some vignettes contain folklore and history about the species, uses of the wood, and a description of diseases, insects and injuries that typically attack the tree. The size of the book makes it a perfect companion for a walk in the woods, or relaxing in a chair at home.

Frommer's 2000 New York City from $80 a Day (Frommer's New York from $80 a Day, 2000)

Don't Leave Home Without It
This is THE book to take to New York. It is accurate, readable, amusing, and fits in your purse. The reviews of where to eat and where to stay may not let you do NYC on $80.00, but they certainly help prioritize where to put your dollar down, and what to expect back. The division of the book into individual areas of the city is most helpful, and the frequent small maps in the book are so much easier than dragging out the big map (which is included). I've made two trips to the city with my teenage daughters, and this book was my Bible and my security blanket. Great research, well organized, and fun to read.

Frommer's 2000 Portable New York City
This New York City compact guide belongs in any visitor's purse or pocket. The guide offers helpful websites which I accessed for information on ticket purchases and future events, as well as offering practical advice on personal safety issues. There are detailed descriptions and directions to the city's main attractions, including the subway numbers to get there. The author has shopping tips for luxury and bargain hunters alike. Note: You will probably need a more detailed guide for accomadations and dining such as the AAA New York Tourbook, to use as an adjunct.

Frommer's Great Outdoor Guide to New England (Frommer's Great Outdoor Guide to New England 1999)

Jermanok is right on the mark!
This book was all I needed to plan a getaway weekend on Cape Cod with my wife. We were short on planning time, and this book recommended a place to stay and some great hikes. If you want to get away in New England and spend your time outdoors, Jermanok's research is right on the mark!
